“Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe’s finest example of medieval carvings”. State the folk from Visit Chester.
This year’s July weekend away will be based in and around Chester.
Andy is beavering away to map out walks for Friday and Saturday, while Gill plans to walk the walls on Sunday.
Gill has found a place that does Bed & Breakfast, accepts Camper Vans, Caravans, and Tents, and has it’s own Pods. If you intend to join us on this trip you really need to book your accommodation now.
The place Gill has found is New Farm and the contact details are:
As always, you are free to arrange your own accommodation anywhere in the area if that is your preference, but it would be nice if everyone was in the same location.
The Fleckney Walking Club have three weekends away during the year. These occur usually in May, July, and September.
There are normally three walks during the weekend: a short one on the Friday once everyone has arrived and settled, a long one on the Saturday followed by a meal at a local hostelry, and a short one on the Sunday to allow people to get back home by Sunday night.
The organisers will have walked the routes in advance and will advise members of the start times etc.
