Starting from Launde Abbey, head south along the road past the old Augustinian Priory for about three-quarters of a mile before turning left onto a bridleway. This path leads along the edge of Launde Park Wood and crosses the Leicestershire Round. A short distance after Long Wood, the path meets up with the Leighfield Way/Macmillan Way.Â
Turn left and take the Leighfield Way/Macmillan Way, dropping down to the fishponds by Leigh Lodge. The path then climbs gradually past Leigh Lodge Cottages and on to Hibbitts Lodge where it joins Braunston Road. Turn left onto this narrow road and continue downhill for a while until you get to another bridleway on your right.
This path is part of the Leighfield Way and it joins up with part of the Rutland Way where you turn sharp left and head into Braunston-in-Rutland for refreshments in either the 18th century Old Plough or the 17th century Blue Ball.
Once suitably refreshed, head south out of Braunston-in-Rutland along Wood Lane. Where the road bends to the left, head straight on past the no-through-road sign. This path leads uphill to Top Windmill and then gradually downwards to Cottage Farm where it meets the road. Turn left and follow the road back to Launde Abbey.
