Our Walks

The Fleckney Walking Club meet every Sunday for a walk of about 8 to 9 miles with a pub stop somewhere along the route. We meet at the Scout Hut Car Park, High Street, Fleckney, at 9:30 a.m. You are advised to wear good quality walking boots and carry weatherproof clothing. We suggest you also bring refreshments as a coffee stop is also usually on the cards.

During the Summer, we have short walks of about 4 to 5 miles on Thursday evenings. These walks usually start and finish at a pub. We meet at 7:00 p.m. at the Scout Hut Car Park, High Street, Fleckney, for these walks.

We also have 3 weekends away, at various locations, usually in May, July, and September. Some of us stay on campsites, some in B&B, some in hotels.

The annual cost to join the Fleckney Walking Club is £10 (Sundays and Thursdays) or £5 (Thursdays only) payable on your first walk.

Short Walk (Every Sunday)

Our short Sunday walks (9:30 a.m.) offer a gentle, local outing of around 4 to 6 miles — perfect for anyone who fancies stretching their legs without tackling too many stiles or undulations. These are relaxed, sociable routes, usually with a coffee stop built in, and ideal for easing into the week ahead.

We meet at 9:30 a.m. at Fleckney Village car park on alternate Sundays for medium (6 to 8 mile) walks for those wanting a bit more of a challenge.

Please come prepared with decent footwear suitable for field paths and village tracks, and clothing appropriate for the weather — layers, waterproofs, sunhats, or whatever the great Leicestershire skies decide to throw at us.

Everyone’s welcome, whether you’re a regular, a returning walker, or joining us for the first time.
