The Bluebell Walk 2024

By Phil

5th May 2024: Kathy’s Bluebell Walk is always a fantastic one. This year was no exception although the weather pushed us back a week and into Easter Sunday. With permission, we parked at the top left of The Plough car park. We then walked along the lane to Burroughs Wood, wandered through the trees among the Bluebells, and then onwards to Martinshaw Woods.

One of the loveliest walks of the year is the Bluebell Walk. This walk was no exception and, as you can see, there were blue carpets everywhere.

9 miles: Along and through Martinshaw Wood to Ratby Burroughs, around to Botcheston, back through the Burroughs to Martinshaw Farm, and back to the start via Groby.

8 miles: The Bluebell Walk, or how get mislaid in the woods! When we finally emerged from Martinshaw Woods we headed to Newtown Linford and then down to Groby skirting the quarries. The Stamford Arms was our watering hole before heading back to the (edge of the) woods.
