Brinklow
Paul and Tricia Raby
As usual, we will meet at the village car park (///loses.always.huts) by 9.30 a.m.
Note: Brinklow is about 20 miles (35 minutes) from Fleckney so the official driver's fee will be £4.
Starting from St. John the Baptist Church, Broad Street, Brinklow, Rugby CV23 0LN (///stealing.sized.late), This is a moderate walk from Brinklow Castle (with earthworks that you can climb!), along the Oxford canal, through fields/woods, along some quiet roads, over the river Avon, passing through Church Lawford and past church remains at King’s Newnham. Coffee stop on Bridge 37 (Bodley's Bridge) over the canal around 11 am. Picnic lunch at 12.30-1 pm at The Old Smithy in Church Lawford (outside tables if weather is ok). We can get hot/cold drinks from the pub. There are also a couple of pubs just along the road from where we are parking in Brinklow where we could have a drink at the end of the walk. Please park considerately by the church on the B4455. There are around 4 stiles – all reasonable, the terrain could be muddy if wet. One path from the canal up to a bridge is quite narrow.
