The Walk
Walk Leader: Kathy Kilsby
This walk is just over 7 miles long but has a few ups and downs!
Starting from East Carlton Country Park, head northish along Church Lane until it changes to Wire Lane. After passing a large clump of trees on the right, at the bottom of the hill, there is a footpath to the left. This footpath heads sharply uphill and then down again before levelling out to reach Middleton Road. Turn left along the road to the village of Ashley.
Head south from Ashley along a footpath that rises steeply to reach a height of 367 feet above sea level before dipping down to 288 feet and then rising sharply again to 350 feet. A bit of a roller-coaster!
The path now drops again, but not quite as steeply, until flattening out just before reaching the junction of Ashley Road and Lower Road. Cross the road at this point and start climbing again up to the village of Stoke Albany and the pub stop – The White Horse Inn & Restaurant.
After the pub stop, the northeastward route back to East Carlton is fairly straightforward with only a few minor (?) ups and downs.
