I (Phil) had the honour of leading this cracking walk from Tugby through Rolleston and Skeffington and back via Tugby Wood. The pub stop was at The Fox and Hounds (///soda.aimed.warrior).
Apart from a little game of “hunt the footpath” across one field, this 7 mile walk was quite solid underfoot when Vickie and myself tested it. Unfortunately, the route had acquired a lot more mud and undulations than when Vickie and myself tested it five weeks earlier!
We started from near The Fox and Hounds in Tugby and headed along a bridleway all the way to Rolleston. From Rolleston we took Skeffington Road, if you can call it a road, that turned into Rolleston Road and ended up in Skeffington. We headed east through the village along Main Street and then turned right at the triangle in the road and headed south until we came to a hidden footpath on the left.
The five stiles on this walk are along the start of this path. There were also a few very friendly horses along the way.
The footpath turns into a track cum bridleway and then it’s over a ford and the bridleway continues to Wood Lane. We turned right onto the lane and it took us all the way back to Tugby.
