Billesdon > Billesdon Coplow > Frisby > Billesdon

The Walk

This 6.5 mile walk was a circular one starting at the Market Place in Billesdon, thence towards Billesdon Coplow and back via the ancient village of Frisby.

Ten of us braved the inclement weather for an interesting walk from Billesdon, up to Billesdon Coplow, down to Palace Hill and along Uppingham Road for a short while. We then headed southwards over Wash Dyke Bridge where we stopped for a coffee break about 11 o’clock when the weather decided to let up and we even saw the sun a couple of times!

Leaving the somewhat dismantled bridge, we headed on past Frisby House Farm and Frisby Dairy Farm and turned sharp left through two very muddy fields and a swamp before reaching our destination.

Refreshments were taken at the New Greyhound where we were given table service by the very obliging barman.

The walk was a mixture of lanes, footpaths & bridleways. Undulating terrain and, besides the inevitable stiles, the only other hassle was having to run the gauntlet of the A47 traffic twice!

Thanks Andy, a great walk – don’t forget your map next time! 😃
