The Walk

Dave Harvey led this our second February walk. We started and finished in Barkby.

The walk was just a smidgen over 6 miles long, taking in Riverside, Beeby, Lodge Farm, and a permissive track back to Barkby and The Malt Shovel. As our leader said: “Short on stiles, but not on style”.

In fact, there were only two stiles and even they were bypassable via an open gateway.

When we left Fleckney the sun was bursting through the mist but, by the time we got to Barkby it was extremely misty. So much so that we don’t have the photographs of the views that we were expecting. Nevertheless, the walk was very easy with steady ups and downs but nothing to make you breathless.

All in all, it was a very easy walk and the sun eventually broke through the mist and the sky became a lovely shade of blue – as can be seen from the picture of Barkby Church.
