Chapel Brampton > Holdenby > Lower Harleston > Church Brampton > Chapel Brampton

Janet Earwaker led this walk starting at Chapel Brampton and we walked towards Holdenby Hall, and came back via Harlestone and Church Brampton. The pub stop was at the end of the walk at The Spencer Arms in Chapel Brampton.

Well, what a walk?!? It was cold, it was windy, but it was DRY! The wind made it feel a lot colder than it actually was, but did that stop us? Not likely!

From Chapel Brampton the walk was fairly level until we dropped down into the valley towards Slow Ramp (Cank) Farm. We then started the ascent to Holdenby where we reached the highest point of the walk. We then dropped down through a rather boggy sheep dip until we reached Delf Spinney where we crossed the railway line. Then it was uphill again past Glebe Farm to Glebe Cottages where we crossed the A428 and then gradually down (with some ups) to Lower Harlestone where we joined the Northamptonshire Round to cross the railway for the second time. We then continued, upwards, along the Northamptonshire Round through Church Brampton till we reached “home” at Chapel Brampton. A quick change of footwear and onwards to The Spencer Arms – a very spacious and friendly pub – for a nice couple of beers.
