Smeeton Westerby 5th January, 2025 – by Five-Pints As we step into another grand walking adventure, we set our sights on a roughly 7.5-mile (or a neat 8 miles if you take the Shield detour) circular saunter from Fleckney to Smeeton and beyond. Expect an easy-going trek with one short but cheeky climb, plenty of…

Kathy Kilsby’s Kilby to Kilby Bridge Walk 22nd December, 2024 Some of us hardy foot-sloggers were planning to hike from Fleckney to join this tongue-twister walk at Kilby. However, we decided to travel by car with the option of leaving said car in Kilby and walking back.  Anyway, we should have started from the Dog…

We joined the Leicestershire Round, and left it to pop over Soar Brook onto Bumble Bee Gardens. This led…

15th September 2024: Keeping it local, this is a stitching together of sections of previous local walks. Challenging in parts, but mainly easy-going. There is a 7 mile option and a 9.5 mile option. Also, there is a choice of one or two pub stops!

1st September 2024: John & Denise led the walk starting at the public car park next to the Wharf Inn in Welford. We walked north along the A5199 for approximately 300 meters (footpath available) and turned right onto Sulby Road for about ½ mile.

Barrow, Seagrave, Sileby, Mountsorrel

By Phil

23rd June 2024: The walk begins at the car park for the Three Crowns Inn. Cross the High Street and walk up Church Street past the Roundhouse. The Roundhouse is actually octagonal and was previously used as the village lock-up (a small gaol) as well as for funeral bier storage. The single-storey building behind it was once the village smithy.
