Just over 7 miles, this local walk takes you from Fleckney to Arnesby, down to Shearsby, and back to Fleckney. Very muddy if it’s been raining!

Great Glen 2

5.5 miles: This walk takes you from The (Pug and) Greyhound (shame!), down to the canal and along the towpath to Newton Harcourt. From there it’s across the fields back to Great Glen and The (Pug and) Greyhound (hooray!).

Great Glen

8.5 miles: From Great Glen to Little Stretton, over to King’s Norton (the long way!), down through Burton Overy and then back to Great Glen and The (Pug and) Greyhound.

Tur Langton

8 miles: Park at, or near, The Crown Inn at Tur Langton and head north-east to Carlton Curlieu, around in a long loop to Shangton and back to The Crown – sorry, Tur Langton!

Hallaton

8.5 miles: The countryside and views around Hallaton are some of the best. Park at or near the Bewicke Arms and head out of Hallaton past the church. This route takes you through Slawston, Blaston, and Horninghold before doubling back to Hallaton.

Welford

7 miles: An easy walk from The Wharf at Welford across fields, along the canal towpath, over the Hemplow Hills and back to Welford and The Wharf.

Martinshaw Wood

9 miles: Along and through Martinshaw Wood to Ratby Burroughs, around to Botcheston, back through the Burroughs to Martinshaw Farm, and back to the start via Groby.

Rearsby

8.5 miles: These -by endings are generally places where the Vikings settled first. The -by has passed into English as ‘by-law’ meaning the local law of the town or village. This figure-of-eight walk takes you from Rearsby, through Brooksby, Rotherby, Frisby, and Hoby, before looping back through Rotherby and Brooksby to Rearsby.

East Carlton

7 miles: Ups and downs from East Carlton to Ashley down the map to Stoke Albany over to Wilbarston and back to East Carlton.

Teeton

8 miles: From the very small village of Teeton go up the map to Creaton, around a long muddy loop avoiding Cottesbrooke, or not, down the map to Hollowell, drinky-poos at The Chequers in Ravensthorpe, and then teeter back to Teeton.
